Psychological thriller directed by Alfred Hitchcock, the “Master of Suspense.” Janet Leigh plays a woman on the lam who checks into the mysterious Bates Motel. The property appears to be deserted except for the proprietor Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins) and his mother. Hitchcock’s biggest hit, presented here with restored footage cut from the original theatrical release. (“A boy’s best friend is his mother.”) Rated R
