Emagine Entertainment Partners With Bluewater to Create “Ghosts on the Balcony” Haunted Theatre Attraction
August 9, 2022

The Haunted Attraction will run from October 1-31 at The Birmingham 8 Powered by Emagine

(TROY, MI – August 9, 2022) Emagine Entertainment, Inc., an innovator in luxury theatres, has announced a new partnership with Bluewater, a leading live event production company, to create an industry first, live Haunted Theatre experience.  The “Ghosts on the Balcony” will launch October 1st, exclusively at The Birmingham 8 Powered by Emagine, located at 211 S Old Woodward Ave., Birmingham, MI 48009.

The Birmingham 8 Powered by Emagine, long time rumored to be haunted, was constructed in 1927 as a playhouse prior to its remodel as a movie theatre in the 1980’s.  Guests have reported encounters with apparitions, hearing sounds of disembodied voices and footsteps, as well as experiencing other unexplained paranormal activity like lights flickering, doors opening and closing by themselves, and objects being moved by an unseen entity.  Employees working at the old theatre late at night additionally report feeling a strange presence and experiencing unexplained feelings of paranoia and fear in certain areas of the building.  The history of this historic building creates the perfect setting for this new experience.  The theatre will not be showing movies during the month of October and will be completely transformed back to Victorian era times for this immersive haunted theatre attraction. The bloodcurdling haunt is designed by Bluewater’s professional set designers and will transform 11 different chilling areas of the theatre, including many spaces in this old historic building never before seen by the public.  Each area of the haunt will be uniquely themed and staffed by professional actors trained in the art of terror.

The haunted attraction chronicles the experience of theatre proprietor Mr. Baldwin, an old caretaker who has worked in the theatre for over 50 years, and a harrowing tale of murder and the mayhem that followed.  This is not for the faint of heart…this will scare you to death, just like what happened to Mr. Baldwin’s family, friends, and many patrons of his theatre! These “Ghosts on the Balcony” still haunt the building today!

The “Ghosts on the Balcony” will run daily October 1 – 30, and will feature a weekend family friendly haunt (ages 5-12) Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 2:00pm – 5:00pm, and a bloodcurdling adult haunt (ages 13 and over) Sunday thru Thursday from 7:00pm -10:00pm, and Friday and Saturday from 7:00pm to 1:00am.  The family friendly haunts will last approximately 30 minutes, while the bloodcurdling adult haunts will last approximately 60 minutes.  Guests will also have the ability to purchase food and beverages from the concession stand along with adult (21+) beverages at various stops throughout the experience.  Tickets for the family friendly haunt are $20, and the adult haunt tickets are $30.  Tickets are timed in 15-minute increments and can be purchased directly on the Emagine website now at www.emagine-entertainment.com.

To round out the experience, guests are also invited to Emagine Palladium (located a short walk away) after the haunts to enjoy an after party for crafted brews and spirits, food, and dancing.  The “Ghosts on the Balcony” will become an absolute must do for those who want to enjoy the scariest time of the year!

“We are very excited to continue to innovate and bring this brand-new experience to our guests,” said Anthony LaVerde, CEO of Emagine Entertainment. “Along with Bluewater, we are designing what we believe to be the best haunted experience in Metro Detroit.  We are sparing no expense to create a fully immersive experience that will delight and terrify all who dare to enter.”

“The history of this building and the vision of the Emagine team to create such a memorable experience, is the perfect canvas for our team to create a haunted destination that will play with your mind and have you seeing things that may or may not be there,” said Scott Schoeneberger, Managing Partner of Bluewater. “We’re excited at the potential for future seasonal experiences in this space as well.”
