Step by Step

A testament to the immense complexity of nature and family, STEP BY STEP follows two dreamers, Felix and Valentina, and their dog Rudy, on an odyssey to bring harmony to their lives and the land surrounding them. Valentina’s pregnancy leads to a lot of unanswered questions for their future, leading to the decision to leave their hectic life in Berlin and move to the Spanish countryside. Stepping out of the hamster wheel of modern urbanization and learning the complexities of sustainability, the two pursue their dream of building a farm and growing their own food. The land they’ve chosen, however, is utterly depleted of nutrients and suffering from multiple droughts. The film chronicles this growing family as they learn how to create a sustainable life over more than a year of daunting work and trial and error attempts – creating the utopia they seek for their son.
